Legal & Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Claudia Roth is the name we work under. We run this website. Claudia Roth personally decides how the information you share here is used, which in data protection law makes her the "data controller".

If you have any questions about your information, please email us at claudia@claudia-roth.com.

What we collect

  • Letters from Life. When you sign up for our newsletter, Letters from Life, we ask for your first name and email address. Our email service also records when you signed up, and whether our emails are opened or their links clicked.
  • Messages. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to write.
  • Soul Conversations and retreats. When you enquire about a one-to-one Soul Conversation or a retreat, we keep your contact details and what you tell us, so we can reply and make arrangements. If you choose to tell us about your health or wellbeing, we use it only to support you and keep it private.
  • Payments. If you pay for a session or retreat, the payment is handled by your bank or the payment service you use. We never see or store your card details. We keep a simple record of the payment (your name, the amount and the date) for our accounts.
  • Website visits. Like every website, ours is run on servers that keep standard logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. These are used to keep the site secure and working. Cookies are explained below.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. On this website:

  • Google Analytics 4 counts visits and shows which pages are read and where visitors come from. It only runs if you accept analytics cookies in the banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
  • YouTube videos appear on some pages, such as our meditation library. YouTube (part of Google) may set cookies when a video loads.
  • Google Fonts load some of the lettering from Google's servers, which see your IP address.
  • The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp when you tap it, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy then applies.

When you first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies, with equal buttons to accept or reject. Your choice is saved in a small cookie so the banner does not keep asking. You can change it at any time with the “Manage consent” tab at the bottom of the page.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, though videos may not play.

Why we use your information

The law asks us to name a reason, called a lawful basis, for each use:

  • Your consent: for Letters from Life, analytics cookies, and anything you share about your health.
  • Our agreement: when you book a session or retreat, so we can arrange and deliver it.
  • Legitimate interests: for replying to your messages and enquiries, and for keeping the website secure. This means a reasonable, expected use that does not override your rights.
  • Legal duty: for keeping payment records, as tax rules require.

Who else handles it

We never sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing. A few trusted services help us run things, and they may only use your information on our instructions:

  • Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., in the United States) stores our mailing list and sends our emails. Intuit is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the UK recognises as giving adequate protection, and Mailchimp's data processing terms add further safeguards.
  • Our web hosts keep this website online.
  • Google provides analytics, fonts and YouTube, and may process your information in the United States under its own safeguards.
  • Payment services handle payments under their own privacy policies.

We would only share your information with anyone else if the law required us to.

How long we keep it

  • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe. Mailchimp keeps a note that you left, so you are not emailed again.
  • Messages and enquiries: up to two years after we were last in touch, unless we go on to work together.
  • Session and retreat records: for as long as we work together, then up to two years.
  • Payment records: up to six years, as tax rules require.
  • Server logs: a short time, as set by our web host.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • see the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use
  • give you a copy in a format you can take elsewhere

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Just email us. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list. You can also simply email us at claudia@claudia-roth.com.

Children

This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us their details, please tell us and we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

When anything changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information, we will let our mailing list know.

Thank you for trusting us with your information.

Claudia
